How to order checks
You can order checks from your bank when you are opening your new checking account or you can order checks online. Ordering from your bank is easier but it will cost you more for the convenience.
You will be given a brochure of check formats and designs to choose from and the bank will place the order for you. The charges for the checks will be automatically deducted from your checking account when they are shipped to you. (What’s the best check format for you?)
The bank will also give you a few starter checks if you request them. These should get you thru until your ordered checks have arrived.
If you prefer, you can order checks online and save yourself a bit of money to keep for yourself. You will also be able to find a larger variety of designs to choose from to express your personality.
You will need four important pieces of information when you are ready to order checks. Use the links below to empower yourself with knowledge before attempting to place your order.
1. Your bank’s routing number.
2. Your account number.
3. Preferred check format.
4. Preferred check design.
Other information that you might need is your bank’s name and address, the branch number and know what check number you want the printer to start with.
Armed with the above information, ordering checks online is simply a matter of choosing a check printer and filling out their online form. The hardest part of all will be choosing from the thousands of check designs available!
